Women Protection Cell

Functions:

  • Create a safe and secure environment for female students and staff within the campus.

  • To promote decent code of conduct in the students.

  • To create an awareness of the socio-cultural, political and biological complexities of the issue.

  • Take preventive measures to ensure safety during academic and co-curricular activities.

  • To enhance the understanding of the other gender.

  • To dwell into the issues related to sexual harassment of women staff and students.

  • The committee will deal with the following issues: Eve teasing incidents in the campus and the college buses, in appropriate behavior towards women staff, improper treatment of girl students, passing of un-aesthetic and provocative comments and messages.

  • Address and resolve complaints or grievances related to harassment or discrimination promptly and fairly.

  • Provide emotional and psychological support to students and staff facing harassment or abuse.

  • Formulate and implement policies related to women’s safety, dignity, and welfare.

  • Ensure the effective implementation of government directives and regulations related to women’s safety.

  • To enquire into complaints received from the aggrieved students including ragging or from staff of the college.

  • Uphold a zero-tolerance approach toward any form of harassment, abuse, or misconduct.

Responsibilities of the Women Protection Cell:

  • Ensure that the complaint mechanism is accessible, confidential, and free from bias, allowing students and staff to report incidents without fear of retribution.

  • Investigate all complaints regarding harassment, violence, or discrimination with seriousness and sensitivity.

  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, legal advisors, and external organizations when necessary, to ensure that complaints are handled legally and with proper documentation.

  • Organize self-defense and empowerment workshops for women, helping them build confidence, learn essential life skills, and protect themselves in case of emergencies.

  • Conduct regular training sessions on personal safety, self-defense techniques, and legal rights for women.

  • Organize campaigns, exhibitions, and events that raise awareness about issues such as gender equality, women’s empowerment, and gender-based violence.

  • Ensure transparency in the functioning of the Women Protection Cell, sharing outcomes with relevant stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
